The Correctional Ported Barrel mouthpiece allows the rider to isolate one side of the bit and reward the horse when relaxed at the poll. It is good for collection and stopping as well as for  spoiled horses. Eggbut rings give a more direct signal than loose rings and should not pull through mouth or pinch. Hooks give the option of fixed attachment of  both the reins and cheek pieces which allows the bit to act like a leverage bit.
